The East Area Founder's Campfire was a large scale campfire with an estimated number of 500 scouts attending held at Dunman High School. The guest of honour for the event was East Area Commissioner, Goh YiHeng. It was the first large scale East Area campfire for the first time in 3 years, I was given the opportunity to be part of the campfire by being a song leader and lead by singing the songs when they were being played .

Rehearsal for 'BP Spirit' Song
For every scout campfire, there will always be song leaders who will lead the crowd in singing the songs, around 15 scouts from St Gabriel's and Dunman High volunteered to lead in these songs and I was one of them. As the date of the campfire was very close to our exam season, many of the scouts from both schools were unable to attend the training sessions with valid reasons. As such, it only gave us 2 days before the campfire to practice all 12 songs for the campfire. Within the 2 days, we were able to sing the songs comfortably alongside with the hand actions and we were ready for the campfire.

In conclusion, the East Area Founder's Day Campfire was a blast as it was full of excitement and I was able to make friends with scouts from other schools . If given the opportunity to help out in events like this, i would not hesitate. I would also like to thank my AVSL Andrew Toh and Venture Jerald Lam for giving scouts from Southern Cross the opportunity to help in leading the songs.
